Hollywood maybe glamorous but it sure as heck ain't easy. I am currently writing a screenplay which I hope to complete by the end of this month. Writing for a feature film is challenging. There are so many factors to consider in order to make the perfect screenplay. You have to have the corrects beats, make sure certain events happen on certain pages, and many other specific details. I will say though that Blake Snyder's Save the Cat has been a life-saver. Strange name but an amazing book. It has really helped me to create a better screenplay. Hopefully, I'll be able to accomplish my goal by the end of the month.
Another goal I had for this new year is cooking. I've always been a terrible cook. When I was younger, I set an oven mitt on fire in an oven. Yeah, I was that person. My mother, on the other hand, is a cooking genius. Her food is amazing and she makes it look easy. I always joke that she has to put fairy dust in her food for it to be that good.
This week I cooked Parmesan Chicken and Turkey Tacos. Both are unique takes on typical recipes. They are delicious and amazing to eat. And, as a bonus, I didn't catch anything on fire.
Hopefully by the next blog, I'll have my camera working. That way there will be pretty pictures along with the blog.

Happy New Year!
It's a new year; and, as always, it's time to make resolutions. One of my resolutions is to start a blog. Thus, The Fireside Tales was created.
Why name my blog The Fireside Tales? Because many years ago, before we became glued to our computers, people loved to tell stories by the fire. Since I am a writer and started this blog in the winter, I thought it was a perfect name.
So, there are probably two important questions running through your mind. First, who is this person? I'm A.E. Keener. I' using my pen name because it's entertaining and most people like to call me by my last name anyway. I am a senior at Elon University majoring in Media Arts in Entertainment with a double concentration in broadcast/ new media and cinema with a minor in creative writing. Try saying that five times fast. I am an author with two novels, a picture book, and a collection of stories. If you are interested in my work, you can check it out here:

Now, the next important question. What is this blog about? It's about anything and everything. I may regale you with my adventures during 2011. I may write about recipes, random facts, or just about anything. I assure you that what I will write about will be interesting.
This blog will be updated either weekly or bi-weekly depending on my schedule. Unfortunately, college likes to surprise me with loads of work occasionally.
I hope you enjoy this blog, and I hope this new year brings you happiness.
